This is a big weekend for the mom of the house... this Sunday I will have been alive on this planet for 40 years!

Apparently, this is a big deal so here's where I land on it. A couple of years ago a friend of mine said, "Oh, Kelly, the other side of 40 is just terrible. I hate it. You just wait." This stuck with me because it made me so sad for her. I know deep down she didn't really mean it because she has such a happy life and really tries to live it with purpose. Satan is tricky, though, and if he can somehow make us believe we are on a downslope, we don't really work as hard to make a difference, do we?

So, here's what I think... God has given me 40 years of a life of blessing. I have known people who were not so blessed and people who didn't live to see 40 years on this earth. I also know there are thousands of people in their 20s who would trade ages with me just to live even 40 days of my life. I am grateful. And I can't wait to see what God has planned for me next. Happy Big 4-0 to me!
